Digital dental scanner takes dental treatment to a new level

We are excited about the advances in dentistry that are being made every day, and we are working hard to make sure that our patients have access to the very latest technology and its benefits. We are currently introducing a digital dental scanner (also known as an intraoral scanner), which is the only one available in the whole of Kupiškis and its region. This new and modern device will help you to avoid a lot of inconvenience and discomfort in the dentist’s chair, and to reduce your anxiety about the upcoming dental impression procedure.

How does the intraoral scanner work?

The procedure is simple, painless and comfortable. Using an intraoral scanner (a small hand-held device), the dentist slowly scans each of the patient’s teeth.

The scanned image can be seen on the screen immediately by both doctor and patient. This is a very convenient way for patients to see for themselves the position and condition of their teeth, and for doctors to describe upcoming changes and procedures and make recommendations with such an attractive visual tool. Often patients cannot see the outermost corners of their teeth themselves, and the scanned image allows them to view them from all angles together with the doctor.

When is an intraoral scanner used?

Without dental impressions, many dental procedures could not be carried out. A digital impression is used in the same situations as a conventional impression: before implant placement, for the fabrication of full or partial dentures, crowns, veneers, straightening of teeth with caps, for the fabrication of protective caps for those who play sports or suffer from bruxism, or simply for a thorough dental check-up.

What are the benefits of a digital dental scanner?

A digital dental scanner is even superior to a conventional dental impression procedure in several respects.

  • The patient avoids the unpleasant sensation of placing the impression mass in the mouth;
  • The patient’s dental and oral health can be analysed more conveniently;
  • The patient can also see their own situation on the screen;
  • One visit is enough;
  • Greater prosthetic precision is achieved;
  • It makes it easier to plan different procedures: implants, fillings, dentures, teeth straightening;
  • Simulations allow you to visualise the future outcome of procedures;
  • You can easily and quickly transfer information to dental technicians.
What are the benefits of a digital dental scanner?

More comfort

Although not painful, the usual procedure for taking dental impressions causes unpleasant sensations for many patients. The impression mass has to be chewed, which sometimes even makes more sensitive people nauseous. We therefore looked for a more pleasant alternative. So we decided to buy an intraoral scanner that avoids these unpleasant feelings. This is particularly important for patients who have to undergo frequent impressions, for example, when having dentures or straightening their teeth.

Saving time

Digital scanning is much faster than conventional dental impressions, so it saves everyone time. In just a few minutes, the entire desired image is captured.

The scanned teeth are instantly digitised, which means the dentist can send the image to the dental technicians without waiting. No need to take physical impressions with you as they are now digital. So not only is everything faster, it’s also more environmentally friendly.
