Memo

Uncertainty is one of the main factors why people are still afraid of dental procedures. Not being completely sure how things will work leads to all kinds of fears and other negative emotions.

We invite you to take a look at these short memos to help you prepare for your visit.

What should you know after professional oral hygiene?
  • If you have had a local anaesthetic, wait until the anaesthetic wears off.
  • Avoid coloured foods and drinks, hard, extremely hot and cold foods.
  • After fluoridation, avoid dairy products for the next 24 hours and do not eat or drink for 1 hour after the procedure.
  • Purchase new oral hygiene products: a single toothbrush, a toothbrush for all your teeth, an interdental brush, toothpaste, and other products as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Tooth sensitivity or bleeding may occur after the procedure – this is normal. However, if the pain persists, contact the clinic.
What do I need to know after tooth extraction?
  • In case of bleeding, keep a cotton swab in your mouth for 20 minutes after tooth extraction. If it does not stop, repeat again.
  • In case of swelling, use an ice bladder to apply to the extracted tooth.
  • On the day of disposal, do not rinse your mouth or spit saliva. The next day you can use the rinse solution as prescribed.
  • For the next 24 hours, eat only soft, not hot food, do not chew where the tooth was extracted, and avoid smoking and alcohol.
How do I take care of my mouth after dental implants?
  • Bleeding may occur after implantation and usually stops after a few hours.
  • In case of swelling, apply an ice bandage to the buccal area for 20 minutes at intervals of the same duration for at least a few hours.
  • Use painkillers as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Avoid physical activity for the first day, sitting and lying with your head elevated. Do not rinse your mouth, avoid hot, hard food and chew with the opposite side.
  • In the first week after surgery, ensure good oral hygiene, avoid smoking, alcohol and softer foods.
  • In the second week, after the stitches have been removed, you can eat food of varying consistency, but do it on the opposite side.
  • Visit your doctor preventively: every three months for the first year and every six months thereafter.
How do I take care of my teeth after teeth whitening?
  • Avoid colouring foods and drinks, and do not smoke.
  • Get professional oral hygiene, take care of your teeth at home.
  • If you experience hypersensitivity or pain, use special gels or other remedies as prescribed by your doctor.
